All around the blooming heather. Will ye go, oh Lassie go? I will build my love a bower. Near yon pure crystal fountains. And on it I will pile. All the flowers of the mountains. Will ye go, oh Lassie go? And we’ll all go together. To pick wild mountain thyme.. Will Ye Go Lassie? (Wild Mountain Thyme) Robert Tannahill (1774-1810) of Paisley wrote the lyrics for this song in the form of a poem called The Braes of Balquidder, which first appeared in print in 1742.Tannahill’s version first appeared in a collection of songs in Pocket Encyclopedia of Scotch, English, and Irish Songs, II of 1818. The song had circulated prior to that in magazines.
